Hi there, I have worked in healthcare for many years, latterly as the CEO of a Healthcare Charity. I have written and had published many business articles, generally relating to my work in healthcare, but sometimes around the more human elements of life and relationships.
I worked with Management in Practice writing an A-Z of management, this was linked to my work in General Practice as a GP Practice Manager. I often write for our Charity Journal and Magazine and get great pleasure from being asked to support our flagship publication.
After writing my musings during the Covid lockdown I took the plunge to publish the daily updates as a result of many people who read them saying they would make a great book. Writing is something I love doing and thinking up different angles each day was initially a challenge but I soon got into the swing of things and they began to roll off the page. I have added into each chapter some impressions, observations and learning which I hope will support my readers during their journey through my diaries.
I love observing the world around me and I often write down the things I hear people say and the way they act and behave - who knows when those observations will prove useful in my future publications!
Since retiring I have set up my own Consultancy and, working primarily with the charity and healthcare sectors I focus on integrating kindness and psychological safety into every aspect of an organisation.
I have worked alongside Dawn over most of the 14 years that she has been employed as CEO of AfPP, a high profile and successful healthcare charity in the UK. During this period Dawn has achieved a programme of operational efficiency to realise significant savings leading to the organisation achieving positive results year on year; changing a culture of silo working through reassessment of the Charity’s vision and values ensuring decisions were based around the organisation’s values. Dawn successfully developed new commercial and training opportunities to improve income streams and enhance the profile of AfPP within the industry. Dawn also developed an ongoing programme for AfPP trustees in line with the Charity Commission requirements, to ensure that Board members had the skills to effectively lead the organisation.
Dawn has strong leadership qualities which she blends with humour and kindness.
A hard working, self motivated and strong willed individual who champions team working and integration. Dawn does not shy away from her primary purpose and has the ability to stay focused in challenging situations.
Dawn will be an asset to any organisation who engages her expertise.
